NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Fleet management technology provider Motive is significantly expanding the role of artificial intelligence across its platform, introducing new tools designed not only to deliver operational insights, but also to automatically take action in real time.

The company revealed a wide range of integrated AI-powered hardware, automation tools and fleet intelligence capabilities during its Vision 26 technology summit on May 27, highlighting its push toward smarter, safer and more connected fleet operations.

By combining telematics, video intelligence, operational analytics and AI-driven automation, Motive is positioning itself to help carriers reduce manual workload, improve safety performance and streamline daily operations across every department.

Integration and Automation Become the Industry Focus

According to Motive CEO and co-founder Shoaib Makani, many fleets continue to struggle with disconnected systems, inefficient workflows and excessive manual processes that slow down productivity and create operational complexity.

Makani emphasized that the future of fleet technology depends on two critical pillars: integration and automation.

Rather than forcing managers to constantly monitor dashboards and react manually to problems, the next generation of fleet platforms is increasingly designed to recognize risks, analyze data instantly and respond automatically.

This shift reflects a broader trend within the trucking industry, where fleets are adopting AI-powered technologies to improve compliance, lower accident exposure, reduce operational costs and better manage growing workloads.

AI Omnicam Plus Delivers Full Vehicle Visibility

At the center of Motive’s latest expansion is the new AI Omnicam Plus, an upgraded camera system built to provide drivers and fleet managers with complete 360-degree vehicle visibility.

The system connects multiple cameras positioned around the truck, including side, rearview and cargo area cameras, creating a unified view of the vehicle’s surroundings both inside and outside the cab.

Drivers can monitor these views through an in-cab display while AI-powered alerts identify potential hazards such as nearby pedestrians, cyclists, blind-spot risks and dangerous road situations before they become critical.

Makani described the technology as a potentially “lifesaving” advancement for fleets operating in increasingly congested and high-risk environments.

As urban deliveries, tight maneuvering and last-mile operations continue to grow, many fleets are investing heavily in enhanced visibility systems to reduce preventable accidents and improve driver awareness.

AI Dashcam Plus Gains More Predictive Intelligence

Motive also introduced new enhancements for its AI Dashcam Plus, a next generation dashcam that combines telematics and video intelligence into a single device.

Powered by a more advanced Qualcomm processor, the system can simultaneously run more than 30 AI models, allowing it to process large amounts of safety and operational data in real time.

One of the most notable additions is Collision Avoidance, a predictive safety feature that uses dual road-facing cameras to analyze the movement of surrounding vehicles, pedestrians and even animals.

The system provides earlier warnings to drivers, giving them additional time to react and potentially avoid collisions altogether.

Motive executives believe predictive AI technology will become one of the most important tools in reducing accident frequency and lowering insurance exposure for fleets.

Additional enhancements include:

  • Automated license plate recognition

  • AI-powered speed sign detection that reads physical signs directly instead of relying solely on map databases

  • Live two-way communication between drivers and fleet managers through hands-free calling

Fleet operators are also using the upgraded camera technology to protect against fraudulent claims and improve accident investigations.

AI Helps Fleets Defend Against Fraudulent Claims

Cesar Rodriguez, fleet safety manager at Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages, explained that the company has already seen major benefits from the enhanced video system.

The dual-camera setup allows safety teams to capture far more detail during on-road incidents, helping fleets accurately reconstruct accidents and defend against false claims.

Wide-angle footage helps identify surrounding vehicles and potential witnesses, while zoom functionality can capture license plate details, vehicle descriptions and signs of distracted driving.

With nuclear verdicts and insurance costs continuing to rise across the trucking industry, advanced video evidence is becoming an increasingly valuable asset for carriers.

Atlas AI Assistant Brings Data and Decision-Making Together

Beyond hardware upgrades, Motive unveiled Atlas, a new AI assistant designed to turn fleet data into actionable decisions.

Atlas allows users to ask operational questions, analyze fleet performance and launch workflows from a single interface, reducing dependence on static reports and manual data analysis.

The platform can also integrate with third-party AI systems such as Claude and ChatGPT, allowing fleets to automate more complex administrative and operational tasks.

Motive also introduced a voice-enabled version of Atlas for drivers, bringing AI functionality directly into the cab.

Using voice commands, drivers can communicate with dispatch, request support, document information and interact with operational systems while remaining focused on the road.

The move reflects a growing industry focus on reducing distracted driving while improving communication efficiency.

Automation Designed to Eliminate Delays

Another major announcement from Motive was the launch of Automations, a system that responds immediately to real-time operational events without requiring human intervention.

Instead of waiting for managers to review alerts and manually react, the platform can now automatically initiate actions when critical events occur.

Examples include:

  • Contacting drivers when fault codes or fatigue risks are detected

  • Warning fleets about potential hours-of-service violations before they happen

  • Delivering instant fuel-efficiency and idling alerts

Makani said automation dramatically improves responsiveness by removing the delays associated with human monitoring and decision-making.

As fleets continue to manage larger operations with leaner staff, AI-driven automation is increasingly viewed as a critical tool for maintaining efficiency and improving response times.

Driver Retention and Engagement Remain a Priority

In addition to safety and automation, Motive introduced several workforce management tools focused on improving driver retention and engagement.

The company launched Driver Rewards, an automated recognition system that identifies positive driver behaviors, scores performance in real time and delivers incentives directly through the Motive Driver App.

Rewards can include instant payouts through a Motive Card, helping fleets create faster and more visible recognition programs.

The company also expanded its AI Coach platform beyond safety coaching to include fuel efficiency, compliance management and equipment health monitoring.

A new coaching score helps fleet managers measure the effectiveness of coaching programs and track driver improvement over time.

New Reefer and Cargo Security Monitoring Tools

To help fleets protect temperature sensitive and high value freight, Motive introduced its new Door and Environmental Sensor.

The wireless device combines trailer door monitoring with temperature and humidity tracking in a single system designed for reefers, box trucks and smaller commercial vehicles.

By linking environmental data directly to drivers, routes and vehicles, fleets can monitor cargo conditions in real time and respond quickly when problems occur.

Integrated alerts notify operators immediately if trailer temperatures move outside acceptable ranges or if unauthorized door openings are detected.

The technology is designed to help fleets reduce cargo theft, prevent rejected loads and maintain compliance during sensitive freight operations.
